5.9-inch flagship smartphone gets Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and better camera system

Asus has officially launched its new Zenfone 10 smartphone, a smartphone that packs flagship hardware into a compact 5.9-inch body. Asus tapped a rather interesting market with its Zenfone smartphones, putting flagship hardware into a compact body, and the Zenfone 10 pushes it to a whole new level. While it might look similar to its predecessor, the Zenfone 10 brings plenty of improvements.

The Zenfone 10 is almost the same size as the predecessor, measuring 146.5x68.1x9.4mm and weighing 172g. This makes it slightly thicker and heavier than the Zenfone 9. It still features Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the screen and uses a plastic back with an aluminum frame. It is still also IP68 resistant. The screen hasn't changed in order to keep the same 5.9-inch (5.92-inches precisely) size. It is still a Super AMOLED panel with 2400x1800 resolution, HDR10+ support, and 1100nits peak brightness. It did get a 144Hz refresh rate, but it will be available only in supported games, probably in order to conserve the battery.

As expected, Asus equipped the new Zenfone 10 with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, pairing it up with 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of the latest UFS 4.0 storage. Although the battery capacity remained the same at 4,300mAh, the new SoC brings up to a 13 percent increase in battery life.

Asus has also improved the camera system, so now you get a 50MP main sensor placed behind a 23.8mm wide f/1.9 lens, with a whole new 6-Axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 2.0 and new adaptive EIS. The main sensor is backed by a 13MP sensor behind an ultrawide 12.5mm 120-degree FoV lens. The front camera is also upgraded with a 32MP sensor with f/2.5 lens.

There are other minor improvements with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, and it still comes with stereo speakers with Qualcomm WSA8835 smart amplifiers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and more. It still uses the same 30W wired charging, but this time around, Asus also included 15W wireless charging.

The Asus Zenfone 10 will be available as of today, and it comes in five color options, Midnight Black, Comet White, Starry Blue, and new Eclipse Red and Aurora Green. It is priced at €799 for the base 8GB/128 GB version, €849 for the 8GB/256GB version, and €929 for the 16GB/256GB version. The 16GB/512GB will be available at a later date and there is no price information.
